Together we, composer Line Tjørnhøj, soprano Katinka Fogh Vindelev, violinist Louise Gorm, dramaturg and director Tanja Diers and documentarian Maj Jeanne examine the state of flight through the work Fragments of Flight.
Within a period of two years until 2024, we will seek out and meet people with experiences of flight, in order to exchange stories and together investigate and react on what flight is and does to us.
Inspired by the author Ursula K. Le Guin’s essay The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction, the designer Sako Dersahagian has created bags that will follow the work in various ways, these are to be sewn and decorated by refugees who are now based in and around Aarhus, Denmark.
We will reflect on the Danish aid worker and heroine Karen Jeppe (1876-1935), who is known for having rescued several thousands of women and children from captivity during the Armenian genocide.
Fragments of Flight is a work in flight – a musical performance in motion – a flight never stands still, it is always and already on its way.
The entire work is created, documented, shown and published on an ongoing basis as concerts, audio walks, rituals and films during five events among others at CPH:DOX, in Gylling community center, Open Stage at Godsbanen in Aarhus and selected locations (TBA) in Armenia.
